The New York Giants could make some wave sin this year's NFL Draft. After a surprisingly successful first campaign for Brian Daboll, the Giants can afford to be aggressive.
They need to find the best talent that they can in this class on either side of the ball. They especially need help at WR, interior OL, and CB.
In Mel Kiper's latest mock draft from ESPN, he had them taking USC WR Jordan Addison.
Addison is an exciting WR prospect that dominate his conference for most of this season. His time at Pittsburgh and USC were both impressive.
The value at 25 is smart for the Giants, too. The need is there, but he is a late first-round/early second-round talent.
Kiper broke down why the pick makes a lot of sense for New York, and he is correct.
Quarterback Daniel Jones is back on a four-year deal, and the Giants' front office has prioritized playmakers around him. New York has given the franchise tag to running back Saquon Barkley, re-signed wideouts Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard, traded for tight end Darren Waller and added receiver Parris Campbell on a one-year deal. That's an upgraded depth chart, which also includes promising 2022 second-rounder Wan'Dale Robinson. How about one more?
Addison put up huge numbers for Pitt and USC over the past three seasons, and he could be a plug-and-play starter, getting reps in the slot and outside. This is how the Giants' passing offense can take a big step forward.
The Giants cannot have too much offensive talent at WR for Daniel Jones' disposal.
In this scenario, a wideout like Addison would make the most sense for New York.
