Earlier this week, ESPN's Bill Barnwell suggested that the New York Giants had one of the worst offseasons in the NFL.

Barnwell pointed out the Giants' decision to send a third-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for Darren Waller as a move that might not be beneficial for New York.

"Waller turns 31 in September and has played more than 50% of the offensive snaps just 16 times over the past two seasons because of various injuries," wrote Barnwell. "New York isn't locked into Waller for long if it doesn't work out, but it has to treat him as more of a luxury than a true top option."

Time will tell if Barnwell is correct about Waller. But for now, the former Pro Bowler is turning heads during OTAs.

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is already developing a nice connection with Waller as the two have connected several times during OTAs.

"I think it feels like you hear about most guys or you see them in the program and they're listed at 6-6", and they're really like 6-4" or 6-5". He's a true 6-6," said Jones this week when asked about Waller. "He's a true 250, 260, and can fly, can run, can run all the routes. He's just an impressive athlete. He's just been locked in. You can tell it's important to him. He's put a lot of effort into learning the stuff and getting caught up. It's been fun working with him."

"He can do a lot," added Jones. "He's obviously a tough matchup for people, for defenses, with a guy who can run like that with that kind of size, and how you play him in man and how you account for him in zone coverages. He definitely gives something for a defense to worry about or to game plan for, and we can move him around and put him in different spots. Just a super versatile player."

Giants head coach Brian Daboll echoed Jones' praise, telling reporters that Waller is a "true pro".

If Waller can stay healthy in 2023, he could help take the Giants' offense to another level.

Don't be surprised if the Giants have a breakthrough year like the Philadelphia Eagles had last season. The pieces are in place for a big season in New York.
