In the NFL off-season, organizations make plenty of moves. For the New York Giants, they got a win by a fellow division rival making a mistake this week. According to reports, the Philadelphia Eagles are adding Matt Patricia to their defensive staff.
Patricia struggled during his time as the head coach of the Detroit Lions. Last year, he was the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots. That didn't go well, either.
Patricia is better on the defensive side of a staff, but he does not have the best rep with players. Eagles CB Darius Slay already has history with Patricia. Now, he will play for him.
At today's press conference, the Eagles management said that they talked to Slay before making the decision. They believe that the relationship will be good between Patricia and Slay. Only time will tell.
For the time being, it is a head scratcher of a move by Philly. It's tough to see how much value Patricia will add for the Eagles – considering his past. The Giants may be happy to see it happen.
