It's almost time for the New York Giants to open the 2023 NFL season. For the Giants, it only makes sense that the team will kick things off against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football in primetime.

As week one inches closer, NFL analysts are making predictions for the season. Including award races, potential breakout players and divisional winners. That last category is where one analyst made a bold claim about the Giants.

CBS NFL analyst Ryan Wilson believes that the New York Giants will come out on top of the NFC East and take the division crown. Wilson cites head coach Brian Daboll as the primary reason why.

"Brian Daboll convinced me a season ago that he's one of the best coaches in the NFL," Wilson wrote. "He got the most out of Daniel Jones and that offense when a lot of folks thought it was impossible."

More than just Daboll, Wilson was also impressed by the way that the front office went out and added playmakers around Jones. That was highlighted in a big way when the team traded for Darren Waller and drafted Jalin Hyatt.

"The team then spent money this offseason to build around Jones, and while the Eagles are the favorites, New York is a completely different team than it was even 12 months ago," Wilson continued with his analysis.

Finally, Wilson concludes his point by suggesting that the biggest questions concerning the Giants are not Jones. Instead, he thinks the secondary will be under the microscope – but will be up for the challenge.

"The biggest issues for the first time in the Daniel Jones era … isn't about Daniel Jones; it's about how the two rookie cornerbacks will play. If the preseason is any guide, they'll be better than advertised," wrote Wilson.

Out of a panel of 12 voters, Wilson was the only one on the CBS Sports staff to pick the Giants to win the crown.
