New York Giants rub salt in the wound for entire Philadelphia sports fan base during massive win over Eagles
New York got the last laugh – for now.
During a brisk evening at MetLife Stadium, the New York Giants just pulled off a huge upset in primetime over the Philadelphia Eagles. The victory was on the backs of quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo.
Along with the G-Men’s win over them, the Philadelphia contingency around the sports world had a tough evening. The Giants understood the sort of opportunity they had to mess with the fan base of a division rival, and they took it.
Giants troll Eagles and entire Philadelphia fan base during Thursday Night Football victory
During their dominant performance, the Giants organization made sure to rub salt in the wound for Philly fans in attendance at MetLife. They showed the final score of the Phillies-Dodgers NLDS game, right after Philadelphia allowed the game-winning run to score in extra innings.
You can never doubt the Giants’ commitment to going all in on making jokes about their division rivals. In this instance, the Dallas Cowboys or Washington Commanders were not in their sights. Rather, a team in a city with multiple other pro teams playing the same evening felt the wrath of the offensive rookie combo from the Giants.
Not to mention, the victory came in front of tons of viewers. Thursday Night Football is a massive weekly spectacle, and the Giants made sure to make up for their horrific Week 5 loss to the New Orleans Saints in just a handful of days.
Phillies suffer crushing loss while Flyers are defeated in final period
Like I mentioned earlier, the Phillies fell to the Dodgers and were eliminated from the MLB postseason. After grabbing a lead in the seventh inning, Philly allowed Los Angeles to tie the game. The score remained 1-1 until the eleventh inning, when Phillies pitcher Orion Kerkering made a back-breaking error with the bases loaded.
On a comebacker, the pitcher rushed himself and overthrew home plate – where Philly had a force out. The better play would have been to throw the ball to first, but in the moment, the young pitcher tried to find his catcher to record the out but couldn’t do it effectively. The Dodgers walked it off and eliminated the NL East champions from the playoff race.
Additionally, the Philadelphia Flyers suffered their own defeat on Thursday evening, too. Tied entering the third period, Philly allowed Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand to score, giving the Panthers a lead. They never surrendered it.
Overall, it was a night to forget for fans arounds Philadelphia. Sadly for them, it will be hard to shake a night of these sort of losses anytime soon. Rather, the Phillies fans will have to wait until next season to see their team. For the Eagles, the loss dropped them to 4-2 on the season, and the NFC East race has gotten notably more intriguing.
It seems like the Eagles have plenty of unrest around their locker room and plenty of questions to answer going forward about their potential under Nick Sirianni this season. The Giants made sure to get every ounce of joy out of this victory over Philly in primetime, understandably.
