Giants make risky bet that looks even more concerning when you remember how badly things fell apart for them last season

The New York Giants need to turn around their franchise this season, If they don't, it is hard to see another return for head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen. Even with that on the horizon, their lack of major moves this offseason could leave their roster in a similar position to last season.
Returning starters could be a concern for New York
Why's this concerning for New York? A bulk of their roster is back following an egregious campaign that landed them a top five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The offense made no notable moves when it comes to upside as skill positions or along the offensive line.
On defense, the secondary improved with the veteran additions of Paulson Adebo and Jevon Holland. The defensive line also took a step forward with rookie Abdul Carter, but depth at linebacker remains somewhat of a concern for New York.
All in all, it is tough to see a clear projection for this roster in 2025. Could they make some jumps when it comes to young players like CB Deonte Banks, TE Theo Johnson, and center John Michael Schmitz Jr. and find more wins on the schedule?
That's a possibility, but the Giants are truly banking on that when you consider how similar parts of their roster looks to 2024.
Relying on development
With these roster building choices, the Giants have doubled down on their ability to develop young players. They didn't seek out much veteran talent in free agency to supplant young players on either side of the football.
Instead, they stayed relatively quiet and then made some aggressive moves in the draft that could affect their starting units on both offense and defense. Not to mention, quarterback Jaxson Dart could aggressively determine how the offense turns out by the end of the season for the G-Men.
