The New York Giants have signed Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson. With those moves, their rookie QB outlook got a bit cloudier as far as the 2025 NFL Draft goes.

Darius Slayton defends Shedeur Sanders

After some social media buzz surrounding Sanders' Pro Day performance and mechanics, the giants wide receiver went to bat for him on Twitter/X. He doesn't think Sander's patting of the ball before passing it will doom his NFL career. 

There is no lack of confidence in the rookie quarterback from the Giants wide receiver. Slayton believes in him to a certain degree, or he would not be publicly defending him like he did following the Pro Day for Colorado. 

I promise he can pat the ball and be just fine if DB’s was so good at breaking on ball pats they’d all have 8+ picks a year. Same guys that fall for a 2 man dagger concept and give up the dig on 3rd&long every season all season long talkin bout a ball pat what a joke

The Giants currently have the second-best odds to draft Sanders. The only team ahead of the is the Saints at +270. The Giants' odds currently sit at +420, via FanDuel.

Slayton also included a Tom Brady video where he pats the ball before throwing it during his social media discussion. He clearly had receipts prepared in order to defend Sanders' talent and pro outlook.
