The New York Giants looked down one star last week. That was defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence on a massive extension that will keep him in New York for the foreseeable future. It was a task that the front office and coaching staff had to make happen. Now, all the attention turns to star running back Saquon Barkley.

He won't play or be with the team without a new contract – it seems. Accordingly, the Giants and Barkley will need to find common ground on the terms to a new deal.

The newly-extended Lawrence thinks that Barkley deserves a big-money extension, and he will get it.

“I think Saquon is going to get what he deserves… He’s a great player. He’s a great leader for us, one of the top players on the team. I’m excited to see what’s up for him.” –Lawrence

The market is a bit tough to project for Barkley as no RB of his caliber has gotten a long-term deal from their team as of late. You just can't find many recent comparisons, but the expectation is a new deal could average $14-18 million per year.

We will see if the Giants and Barkley work it out as Lawrence believes.
