The New York Giants continue to surround Daniel Jones with new weapons. Their latest move isn't necessarily a receiving threat, but he will help the offense with blocking in a big way.
The Giants are signing tight end Tommy Sweeney.
Sweeney is a TE that is used most for his blocking. He was a backup tight end option in Buffalo, and the Bills loved having him for a few seasons.
His impact went further that the on-field production. Players and coaches often discussed his leadership. Sweeney totaled 18 catches for 165 yards and a touchdown with Buffalo.
The Giants hope that he can bring in some veteran leadership to their offense as well. Sweeney will compete for the TE3 spot in New York.
Darren Waller and Daniel Bellinger will headline the receiving production from tight ends on the Giants going forward.
