The 2024 NFL free agency is officially underway as teams can now legally tamper and the New York Giants are already seeing their free agents being targeted by other teams.
That includes the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles, who are reportedly set to "aggressively" target running back Saquon Barkley and safety Xavier McKinney.
Per Connor Hughes from SNY TV, the Eagles are "preparing to circle" both Giants stars "Very aggressively, specifically with Barkley ($$)."
The Giants and Barkley have appeared to be trending toward parting ways for a long time now but there was more hope around McKinney. It now becomes clear New York is facing some strong competition within the NFC to keep him.
According to Hughes, the Green Bay Packers are also looking at the safety. Although financially the Giants are sitting in a comfortable spot in the salary cap, both the Packers and Eagles have a competitive advantage over the Giants as they're both expected to be serious contenders within the conference in 2024 while the Giants navigate a blurry future.
NFL teams are currently allowed to contact and negotiate with players set to become free agents but contracts can't be executed until Wednesday at 4 pm ET.
