New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt is looking to prove the critics wrong in 2023 and he's not wasting any time.
Hyatt, despite winning the Biletnikoff Award in 2022 (given annually to the nation's top pass catcher), was heavily criticized during the pre-draft process due to the up-tempo spread offense he played in during his time with the Tennessee Vols in college.
The former Tennessee standout has mostly brushed off the criticism, but there's no doubt that he's eager to prove the naysayers wrong.
The Giants held their fourth OTA session on Tuesday and it sounds like Hyatt had a terrific day.
According to Giants.com managing editor Dan Salomone, Hyatt caught two touchdowns during New York's OTAs on Tuesday, including a touchdown that ended the practice.
From Giants.com: Rookie receiver Jalin Hyatt, the third-round pick out of Tennessee, caught two touchdowns, including the walk-off score to end practice.
According to The Athletic, Hyatt is currently running with the Giants' third-team offense. But if he keeps producing during OTAs like he has been, it won't be long before the climbs the depth chart.
No rookie is winning a job in May, but they can certainly improve their odds. And it sounds like that's exactly what Hyatt is doing so far.
