An NFL quarterback and…. Broadway star?!?

Jameis Winston really can do it all!

The New York Giants named Winston as their starting quarterback with star rookie Jaxson Dart currently in concussion protocol. They decided to give Winston the opportunity despite having signed veteran Russell Wilson this offseason.

And it’s clear he’s ready to go.

“I want fans to know that I’m gonna do my best,” Winston told the media, in his first presser as a starter. “Obviously, I’m gonna have fun, but I’m gonna execute, have a surgical execution, and just play ball, man. This is something I’ve been doing since I was four years old, and I just get to do it in the greatest city in the world!”

That line is from the hit Broadway show Hamilton, with it specifically come from the song “The Schuyler Sisters.”

Just another reason to love Winston.

Giants made a lot of changes this week

Following the Giants’ 24-20 loss to the Chicago Bears, in which New York led 20-10 in the fourth quarter, the organization decided to part ways with head coach Brian Daboll. Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka was named the interim head coach.

“We spoke this morning about the direction of our franchise on the field, and we have decided that, at this time, it is in our best interest to make a change at the head coaching position,” Giants president Jon Mara and chairman Steve Tisch said in a joint statement on Monday. “The past few seasons have been nothing short of disappointing, and we have not met our expectations for this franchise. We understand the frustrations of our fans, and we will work to deliver a significantly improved product.”

“We appreciate Coach Daboll for his contributions to our organization. We wish the Daboll family all the best in the future,” they concluded.
