There is officially a new identity for the New York Giants after they beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football 34-17.

While it’s uncertain what the rest of the 2025 season will hold, the Giants’ two offensive rookies, Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo, demonstrated tonight that the team’s future will be physical. This franchise will outwill their opponents and beat them into submission.

After the victory, Dart and Skattebo joined the Amazon Prime broadcast crew and were asked what their identity would be for the rest of the year. Skattebo didn’t use words to describe it; he pointed to the evidence he built from his three-touchdown performance.

“What we just put on the field, you seen it,” Skattebo told Tony Gonzalez, “Everybody’s seen it, everybody that was watching. That’s what we’re doing right there.”

Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo reshape the franchise

After Thursday’s victory, Skattebo revealed to the media that he and Dart talk often about how they plan to fix the losing culture.

“Me and [Dart] do a lot of things on the side together, talk a lot together about getting this turned around,” Skattebo said to the media, “The franchise has been a losing franchise the last couple years, but that’s not who we are right now. We need to continue to build, and build, and build each and every day. And have these guys with positive mindsets and get away from that losing mindset.”

This game tonight was won by the sheer will of Dart or Skattebo, who refused to be stopped by anyone. Skattebo’s three rushing touchdowns were all him grinding through tacklers and forcing his way into the end zone. Skattebo even told reporters he put in extra effort to cross the plane on his second touchdown, even though he didn’t need to.

“I fought extra just in case they did call me short, but I had a really good feeling,” stated Skattebo.

Additionally, Dart had multiple plays that would make any coach gasp because of him laying his body on the line to earn extra yards.

This new brand of Giants football is captivating, and it’s true to the identity of this region. The refusal to be stopped just because someone is standing in your way is something that New Yorkers and New Jerseyans live by.

The newfound playstyle is something the local fans can resonate with and support. However, it is a fan base that quickly becomes negative. Dart was direct after the game, telling the media he wants to change that.

“At times, there’s some negativity that’s surrounding here. And for us, some of the new guys that are coming here, we just got here,” Dart told reporters, “We don’t feel like we were involved in the past. And, we got a lot of winners on this team and guys who come out every single day and work their [expletive] off to put on a good showing on Sundays.”

Dart was also asked if he felt the win against the Eagles was a statement victory. Dart acknowledged that the win was meaningful for beating the best team in the NFL, but it isn’t their priority to make statements.

“Quite honestly, like, nobody really expected us to put up a performance like this, and as a locker room, as teammates, we felt confident and we tried to play hard for each other,” Dart said to the media, “We’re not trying to make statements. We’re just trying to play for each other and win games. We wanted to find an identity, and I felt like we did a good job of putting that a little bit together tonight.”

Again, whatever the future holds for this franchise is unclear. It’s still likely they’ll be looking for a new head coach at the end of the season. But to have two vocal leaders setting the tone is something this franchise has not had in a long time.
