Head coach John Harbaugh knows what his priority is in Year 1 leading the New York Giants: Winning.

But to do so, he needs to do everything in his power to help develop quarterback Jaxson Dart, who will enter his sophomore season in 2026. To do so, Harbaugh first needs to be proven right with the hire of offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. But he also needs to get the quarterbacks coach hire right.

Fortunately, he’s interviewing at least one big name for the gig.

Harbaugh looking into former head coach for QB coach

The Giants are interviewing Brian Callahan for the position, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Callahan was recently fired from his head coaching position by the Tennessee Titans. Though things didn’t work out for him in the top job, his resumé as an assistant is pretty strong.

As an offensive coordinator, Callahan helped lead the Cincinnati Bengals to the Super Bowl in the 2021 season and oversaw Joe Burrow’s first four seasons in the NFL. Earlier in his career, he coached Matthew Stafford as QB coach (2016-2017) and held the same position for the Oakland Raiders in 2018. Before that, he was a part of the Super Bowl winning Broncos in 2015. He held various positions in Denver from 2010-2015.

The Giants also considered Callahan for their offensive coordinator position before hiring Nagy. They’re also considering Arizona State OC Marcus Arroyo for the position.

Callahan would be a solid hire

Though Giants fans will second-guess Nagy and Callahan (if hired) due to past failures, it’s exciting to think about Dart tapping into coaches who have worked with Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Matthew Stafford, and even Peyton Manning.

Dart was all razzle dazzle as a rookie, but he is still raw as a quarterback. An experienced staff should level up his game. If that happens, the Giants will be a problem in the NFC East.
