Head coach John Harbaugh had some brutal honesty to share about the state of the New York Giants’ roster

The New York Giants have multiple players who appear in trade talks around the NFL often, and head coach John Harbaugh had quite the statement to make when it comes to who on the roster is tradeable.

It’s a new era of New York Giants football with John Harbaugh heading into his first year as the team’s head coach.

Harbaugh is expected to change how things are run in New York. He has been one of the most respected coaches in the NFL for quite some time. So when he speaks, people’s ears tend to listen.

His answer about whether a player on his roster is tradeable was brutally honest.

Giants head coach John Harbaugh says everybody is tradeable

“Everybody is tradeable. Everybody.” That was Harbaugh’s response to a reporter in New York. He even joked that a local reporter was tradable by saying, “Even you’re tradable, Dan. If we can get something for you, we’d trade you in a heartbeat.”

This, of course, was a hilarious response by Harbaugh, but I do think there is a notable takeaway from his statement. That being the very first statement in this article, it’s a new era of Giants football.

Just because a player fit well with the old Giants doesn’t mean he will fit under Harbaugh. And that is worth considering when it comes to Dexter Lawrence’s recent trade request and other players linked to possible trades.

Lawrence has been a fantastic Giant, and the team should find a way to keep him. Especially if his potential return via trade isn’t as big as some may think. However, if a new contract can’t come together, a trade for the defensive tackle would be more likely to happen now than in years past.

The player brought up to spark this quote wasn’t Lawrence, though it was edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux. While he said everybody is tradeable, he did make it clear he is excited to watch him produce for the Giants. “I think he’s a great player,” Harbaugh exclaimed. “He looks great in great shape. I’m thinking about him on the field, I’m thinking about getting him plugged into our defense and getting him rolling.”
