New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is feeling good. After missing time throughout the offseason with a toe injury, Nabers was a full participant at the onset of Giants training camp and wasted little time making his presence felt — he was all over the field and making impact plays on Wednesday.
It's the kind of splash you'd expect from Nabers, who established himself as one of the league's most prolific young weapons in the passing game in 2024. But the biggest splash Nabers made on Wednesday was not with his play, but rather with the microphone. In talking with the media, Nabers made an admission that will likely end up buried in the back of Giants fans' heads for the foreseeable future.
Malik Nabers admits his toe injury could need surgery

Nabers has been battling this toe injury for an extended period of time, it's been tied all the way back to his time at LSU. And it's the persistence of the issue across multiple years and the need for a rehab plan this offseason that should continue to keep the Giants on alert. Nabers conceded on Wednesday that he may ultimately need surgery at some point and that the talk has been there — but he's full-speed ahead for 2025.
“That’s not up in the air but decisions will be made when the time is made. Right now, I’m just focusing on locking in, getting ready for the season, being out there with my guys….there’s been talk about (surgery). It just never really came to a complete thought in mind for me to do it, but I’ve been managing it well, been running around feeling pretty good. Everything has been going good with the rehab, so my toe is feeling better. I’m just happy to be out there with my guys now.” – Malik Nabers on his lingering injury

Is there a specialized management plan for throughout the next six months? These are questions that will become more clear in time. But it does warrant a bit of leeriness from the Giants as Nabers looks to follow up his stellar rookie season in New York.
