The Philadelphia Eagles are the overwhelming favorites to win the NFC East in 2023.
The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys, however, are hoping to spoil the Eagles' plans to repeat as division champs.
(By the way, a team hasn't won the NFC East in back-to-back seasons since the Eagles won four straight division titles from 2001 to 2004.)
The Giants and the Cowboys can't both get off to quick starts in 2023. That's because New York is scheduled to host Dallas in Week One on Sunday Night Football.
Either the Giants or the Cowboys are going to start the season in an immediate hole in the NFC East.
And CBS Sports is betting it'll be the Cowboys that start 0-1. The national sports media outlet has the Giants beating Dallas 27-26 in Week One.
When New York got off to a hot 6-1 start last season, there were plenty of opposing fans and analysts who felt like it was fool's gold. The Giants did cool down near the end of the season — thanks in part to playing the red-hot Eagles twice — but they showed enough last season to feel confident that they're "for real" under Brian Daboll.
The Cowboys will be operating with a sense of urgency in 2023 as they look to finally break through with Dak Prescott under center. Getting a win in Week One against Dallas would be absolutely massive for the Giants as it would give the team some solid momentum to start the season.
Games obviously aren't played on paper, but for now, it looks like the national media has more confidence in the Giants in 2023 than they do in the Cowboys.
