New York Giants reveal massive injury update on three key players ahead of their final NFL preseason game vs the Patriots
The New York Giants have massive news on LT Andrew Thomas, WR Malik Nabers, and RB Cam Skattebo ahead of their final preseason game vs the Patriots
The New York Giants delivered massive news for three injured players returning to practice. Offensive tackle Andrew Thomas, wide receiver Malik Nabers, and running back Cam Skattebo will return to practice after missing time.
Perfect timing to get healthy
The first and most crucial injury news is that starting left tackle Andrew Thomas is being removed from the PUP list and rejoining the team for practice this Tuesday. Thomas suffered a season-ending Lisfranc injury in Week 6 of the 2024 season in a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Since Thomas was drafted, his impact and role with that team have been critical to their success. With Thomas in the lineup, he’s helped make shaky offensive lines appear way better than they were. Without him in the mix, they’ve had some of the worst offensive lines in the NFL.
Thomas has had availability issues throughout his six-year career, averaging roughly 12 games per season. In 2023, Thomas only started 10 games, while last year he was only available for six.
Hopefully, this marks the beginning of a long, healthy stretch for Thomas because having an elite left tackle is transformative for any franchise.
It was also announced that star wide receiver Nabers would be back at practice. During training camp, he had missed time battling toe, shoulder, and back injuries. Nabers’ injuries were less severe than what Thomas was enduring, but they were a hovering dark cloud of uncertainty.
Nabers is another player whose impact will be crucial for this team’s success in 2025. After an elite rookie season with 1,204 yards and 109 receptions, Nabers is looking to launch himself into the discussion as one of the best receivers in the NFL.
Lastly, rookie running back Skattebo returns to practice after dealing with a hamstring injury early in training camp. Skattebo is expected to be Tyrone Tracy’s second option this season.
His return is exciting, considering the early training camp buzz he generated as an impactful receiver and short-yardage grinder. With Skattebo fully healthy, the Giants can have a productive and underrated running back tandem in 2025.
The Giants’ outlook is positive today as they prepare to face their final preseason opponent, the New England Patriots, this Thursday.
