New York Giants Tackle Evan Neal

The New York Giants ended the practice in awful fashion.

Brian Daboll is looking to build off an impressive season last year with the weapons he has at his disposal. Daniel Jones was just given a new contract, and Saquon Barkley finally (sort of) got a new deal as well.

With the team practicing and football finally coming back, some key players are fighting to make a name for themselves and get some important reps as they make a push to compete on game day.

Unfortunately, with practice comes injuries. The Giants had one of their young promising players go down that immediately puts his availability in question for their upcoming preseason matchup against the Detroit Lions.

New York Post reported that Giants tackle Evan Neal had to leave practice with a concussion. With the league's strict policies on concussions, especially after what happened with Tua Tagovailoa last season, it's hard to imagine Neal getting back in time for Friday's contest.

As The New York Post reported, "Neal’s development is one of the keys to the season – especially with so much other uncertainty on the line of scrimmage – and now he will miss practice time until he can clear the five-step concussion protocol."

Neal is extremely talented but hasn't quite fully delivered on what the Giants were hoping from him. Getting these reps in camp and bleeding into the preseason is going to be crucial for his development and long-term presence with the team and the organization.

While we hope for a speedy recovery, this isn't what you were hoping to hear from camp with the first preseason game so close.
