Giants’ Tyrone Tracy reveals a key reason John Harbaugh is already setting up New York for early success in 2026
New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy shared his first impression of John Harbaugh with the media on Tuesday.
Vibes are currently high in New York after the Giants hired John Harbaugh. They’re even hiring after yesterday’s media availability when Harbaugh spoke for the first time as the Giants head coach.
While the fan base is excited, the most important aspect of the hire is whether players on the 2026 roster are juiced up about their new leader. When speaking to the New York Post, Giants running back Tyrone Tracy spoke glowingly about Harbaugh and what he brings to the franchise
Tyrone Tracy believes in John Harbaugh’s leadership
The immediate first impression from hearing Tracy talk about Harbaugh is how bought in he already sounds since meeting him. There’s a magnetism about Harbaugh that draws people’s attention, and Tracy acknowledged that yesterday.
“I think the first thing you recognize is that the man commands the room. That’s the first thing. He commands the room,” Tracy stated. “You can just tell that he’s going to be a good leader. He’s going to be a good leader of men. He gains everybody’s respect in the room. And when he’s talking, obviously all eyes are on him.”
Tracy also shared that Harbaugh’s personality aligns with his approach of fighting for all four quarters. There are a number of players on the Giants’ current roster who should connect easily with that as well.
“Another thing I realized was just some of the stuff he was talking about was resonating with me personally,” Tracy told the New York Post. “The first thing was how we’re going to play. Your play style is everything. It doesn’t matter who you’re going against, what day of the week it is, the weather. I think that’s me to a T, man. It doesn’t matter what’s going on. If we’re up 20 and down 20, if you turn on the film, there’s a certain way I run the ball.”
Lastly, and possibly the most important, is a tidbit that Tracy dropped that dispels rumors coming out of Baltimore. As with any firing, it was depicted that Harbaugh had lost the locker room and the respect of his players. Tracy revealed that the Ravens players he spoke to said otherwise.
“Obviously, a ton of respect for him. I know some dudes on the Ravens in Baltimore that I talk to them,” Tracy shared. “They say he’s a good coach, great coach, and he loves ball, and I love ball. So I feel like there’s going to be good things happening.”
That last layer has to be the most exciting as it clears the air on Harbaugh losing his touch with leading players. Considering that’s been one of his greatest traits, it seemed to be hard to believe.
Now the future of the Giants comes down to if Harbaugh can get the same reaction out of other players on the team this offseason.
