Russell Wilson, a potential future Hall of Famer, will likely serve as the New York Giants' starting quarterback in 2025.

The Giants signed Wilson to a one-year deal earlier this week. New York also signed veteran quarterback Jameis Winston to a free agent deal earlier this offseason.

Wilson noted during his introductory press conference that he "expects" to be the Giants' starting quarterback this fall.

If Wilson lands the starting job as expected, he plans to bring an explosive element to the Giants' offense with his patented "moon ball" deep throws.

"Man, the moon ball is — it's the players you have around you," said Wilson during an interview with Giants.com when asked why he's so good at throwing the deep ball. "When you got a guy like Malik Nabers going down the field and making plays [along with] Darius Slayton. I think Jalin Hyatt can do it more, too. He's so special. There's many other guys that can make plays. Just giving the guy a chance. I think that's something I've always been, I don't know, maybe God's gift to me has been put it up to the moon and let it drop where it needs to."

"The biggest thing for me is just trying to be explosive in plays and the playmakers you have around you," continued Wilson. "And facilitating the ball to the right guy at the right time. The biggest thing for me is to continue to just be aggressive in every way, in your approach, your mentality."

It seems obvious that Wilson is intent on heavily utilizing his signature deep ball in New York, which is great news for the Giants' wide receiver group (especially for Jalin Hyatt, who is an elite deep threat).

It's too early to know what the Giants' ceiling will be in 2025. But if the offensive line can protect Wilson and give him some time in the pocket, we could see New York's offense take a massive step forward this fall. The Giants have the talent at wide receiver to create nightmare matchups for opposing defenses. And now they have a quarterback that's accurate and that can get the ball down the field on time and on target.
