Add another feather in Sauce Gardner’s cap because the kid keeps racking up the accolades.

This time it’s from Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA) as Sauce Gardner was named to the All-NFL Team. This is the second All-NFL Team honors for Sauce in as many seasons.

He is one of 10 players to earn back-to-back All-NFL Team honors joining Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, Cowboys guard Zack Martin, Green Bay Packers kick returner Keisean Nixon, Cowboys outside linebacker Micah Parsons, 49ers middle linebacker Fred Warner and 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams.

The PFWA is made up of accredited writers who cover the NFL and the 32 teams daily. The PFWA has selected an All-NFL team since 1966, and All-AFC and All-NFC teams since 1992. Each year in January, members select the PFWA’s On-Field Awards including All-NFL, All-AFC/NFC and All-Rookie teams along with individual awards for Most Valuable Player, Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Executive of the Year and Assistant Coach of the Year. The PFWA On-Field Awards are announced during the week of the AFC and NFC Championship Games.

While Sauce was honored with the All-NFL Team tag, teammate Quinnen Williams was named to the All-AFC Team, which is also his second season in a row with honor. Quinnen missed the All-NFL Team as Aaron Donald and Chris Jones were named ahead of Williams.

A Deserved Award

Sauce had a fantastic year, despite not recording a single interception on the year. He was every bit a shut-down corner for New York despite what some other players have to say on social media.

Sauce recently had Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey say that Sauce gets away with a lot on the field. This past week, Asante Samuel Sr. came after Sauce on social media.

Samuel, apparently upset that Derek Stingley Jr. was left off the All-Pro team, posted 2023 stats for the two cornerbacks, which prompted Gardner to respond that he "woke up tweeting about me before you brushed your teeth."

Samuel and Gardner had a long social media exchange in which Asante Sr. floats the idea that Sauce only gets the accolades because the New York media is behind him. Meanwhile, the media doesn’t vote on the All-Pro team Samuel called him out for making.

Asante Sr. might be projecting here a little bit. He has made the New York media into this all-controlling entity that pushed Sauce into the accolades he is receiving.

In the end, sounds like the only thing Asante Samuel Sr is intercepting is sour grapes. Congrats to Sauce and Quinnen on well deserved awards.
