The New York Football Giants have been outscored 122-46 in their first four football games of the 2023-2024 NFL season. After going 9-7-1 in the 2022-2023 season and defeating Minnesota in a playoff game, the Big Apple figured a new leaf had turned.
In the first four halves of the football, the G-Men have been outscored 77-9, accumulating three field goals in four halves. Furthermore, the New York Giants have not scored a touchdown in four halves of football. New York has numerous problems occurring within their franchise, but the change needs to be had at this second.
Mike Kafka calling plays, the atrocity of an offensive line, the inability to create pressure in the pocket, or the incompetence of the Giants offense to create yards, there are numerous problems for this team. As it is early in the season, there is a slight chance of changing this season around.
HC Brian Daboll becomes the play-caller
As running back Saquon Barkley and left tackle Andrew Thomas have been injured there needs to be better execution on this team without their stars. Brian Daboll called plays against Arizona in the second half of their week two matchup. New York came back from a 20-0 deficit and scored 31 points in the second half, including 24 unanswered. Daboll has changed this team, New York has to let him become the ultimate leader in their highly expensive offense.
It's clear Daboll needs to have a bigger role in this area if this team wants any chance at improvement.
Get Jalin Hyatt Involved
The Giants used a 3rd round pick on the reigning Biletnikoff Award winner out of Tennessee, and he has accumulated four total receptions. Hyatt has remarkable speed and great run-after-catch ability – the Giants need to show more trust in his playing ability and surprise defenses with his athleticism.
Sign any former starting offensive lineman
The Seahawks had 12 sacks against the Giants on Monday Night Football.
Yes, you read that right: 12 sacks.
Daniel Jones is now a $160 million quarterback, so, he needs protection. And, he needs time to execute plays. This has to happen if they want to compete they need help at every facet possible.
The New York Giants have one playoff win in the last six years. This is a team rich with tradition, as evidenced by its four Lombardi trophies. However, there's not much to like right now, at all and it's unknown if there will be anything to like for the rest of the season.
