The 2023 season might not be the same old Jets because from the looks of it, the 2022 season doesn’t feel like the same old Aaron Rodgers.

When the Jets traded for Aaron Rodgers, there were two big lingering questions that were the dark clouds hanging over the Jets and their fans as to how this would play out. Two questions that would determine if this became another chapter in the long history of Jet failures at QB or if this would be the first page in a new story of the New York Jets.

The first question can’t be answered until the season gets going (and for all you over-reactors out there, we are NOT talking about week 1). The first question is simple and important. How much does the 39-year-old Rodgers have left in the tank?

The second question is that looms over the Jets is “will Rodgers be motivated with the Jets?” The answer to this question is becoming clearer by the day and it is a resounding “yes”.

So far this off season, Rodgers has attended all 10 if the Jets OTA sessions, something he generally skipped his last few seasons with the Green Bay Packers. After a calf strain early in OTA’s Rodgers was planning to go back to his home in California to rehab with his personal trainers, but instead opted to remain at the Jets facility and rehab with the team.

The extra time in New Jersey gave him a chance to soak up the stardom of being the Jets QB in New York and bond with his teammates. "It made for a lot of opportunities for some get-togethers in the city, obviously Taylor Swift concert," he said. "We had some good team dinners and a lot of hang-out time, so that was good.”

Rodgers has been reveling in going from being the star in Green Bay, Wisconsin to a star in New York City. Since being traded to New York, Rodgers has attended: the Taylor Swift concert at MetLife Stadium, the Tony Awards, several New York sporting events, the Broadway show “Wicked”, the Ed Sheeran show at MetLife and of course several Manhattan restaurants.

"The last six weeks have been about the most fun I've had in a while," Rodgers said after the Jets' final OTA practice.

Rodgers is embracing life as the Jets QB and is taking his teammates along for the ride.

When asked if it is more likely that we will see the Aaron Rodgers from two years ago when he won his second MVP in a row, NBC NFL Analyst and podcast host Chris Simms had this to say on God Bless Football podcast.

Yeah, you're not wrong. I if you would make me bet where this goes, I would say you get invigorated motivated Jets Rogers. and you see a lot more good Rodgers than bad. If you made me bet money, that's where I'd go. It’s one of those things where the new energy of the building just the fresh new vibes, just like you saw Brady with the Bucs, it gives the Jets team energy, it gives Rodgers energy. And what I think most people don't realize it, they think ‘oh, it's New York. And it's a bunch of big timers and whatever else’, but it's the craziest sports city in the country, arguably. People are obsessed, no matter where you go. And I think he's starting to see or feel his star power in New York City and going Damn, this is cool. I'm [expletive] God everywhere I go around here. And I think he got behind that. – Chris Simms on the “God Bless Football Podcast

The best part for Jets fans, is not only is Rodgers embracing life in New York and with the Jets, but he also is retaining the chip on his shoulder courtesy of how things ended with the Packers. Make no mistake, Rodgers is out to prove everyone who doubts him wrong, and he is the type of player that can use that motivation to take him to a new level.

Rodgers is Super Bowl champion and four-time MVP who is STILL mad about when he was drafted. Imagine what an offseason of being let go by one team and told he fell off a cliff would do to a guy with that type of mindset.

Jets fans need not worry about Rodgers’ mindset as he begins the next stage of his career. He is all-in on being a Jet. Now, if only we knew how much his body has left…the season is only a few months away.
