It's a 14-year drought for the New York Jets, the longest in the big US sports leagues. The last time the team reached the playoffs was in 2010 — coincidentally, the season in which Aaron Rodgers won his only Super Bowl for the Green Bay Packers. Sunday's overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins mathematically eliminated the team from the postseason for the 14th consecutive time.

So yes, quarterback Aaron Rodgers is frustrated about what happened this year. But he doesn't want that extra weight over his shoulders.

"I mean, I've been here — I've started one year, so," Rodgers said after the game. "I'm part of it for one year. It's disappointing."

Even though Rodgers himself wasn't a part of the problem before 2023, the quarterback admits that this season was hugely underwhelming for the team.

"The expectations were high. We didn't reach them, they weren't close," Rodgers added. "It felt good three weeks in. That weekend off, everybody felt real good and since then, it's been a lot of difficult games with opportunities to win. We just didn't figure out how to win enough games. I didn't play good enough in some crunch times and that's why we're sitting here with the record we got."

On Sunday, Aaron Rodgers had his first 300-yard game for the Jets. However, it wasn't enough, and the team lost 32-26 in overtime. It's just another example of how it's possible to lose games in what has been a rough sequence.

"There's a lot of reasons, like we said, a lot of different ways we've lost these games," Rodgers mentioned. "Everybody has some skin on that, but we had opportunities on offense. Whatever happens on defense doesn't matter. We got to get to 30, we didn't do it. We were efficient, pretty good on third down and then red zone, we stalled out too many times."

The Jets lost nine out of their last 10 games. In this period, the team fired head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas. The future is uncertain, and it's unclear at this point if Rodgers will return in 2025 — the most likely scenario is that he won't.

Meanwhile, the Jets have four games left, against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, Buffalo Bills, and Miami Dolphins.
