Drafting Armand Membou addresses a major need for the New York Jets while also getting a top OT duo for years to come

The New York Jets need to follow suit with what the Philadelphia Eagles did to win the Super Bowl last season. No, I'm not talking about drafting Ashton Jeanty, even though that's a big reason the Eagles were good — a top RB in Saquon Barkley.
So, the Jets picked an offensive tackle, in Missouri right tackle Armand Membou, who played nothing but right tackle during his college career. He is a right tackle, and a right tackle only. But the Jets needed that, and decided they want to build through the trenches, because it appears that is where the game will be won, now. At least, that's how the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs so badly in the Super Bowl.
For the Jets, this move certainly helps them climb the AFC East, where they will have to compete with great defenses in any given year in the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, and the Miami Dolphins.
The Jets have now cemented themselves as possibly having a top OT duo for years to come.
Jets drafting Membou anchors their offensive line for years to come
The New York Jets had some offensive line issues last year, but they have seemingly turned it around for Justin Fields, where now, he could have a top OT duo for years to come. And that has to be exciting for a guy who has never really had that.
He didn't have that with the Chicago Bears, and he certainly didn't have that with the Pittsburgh Steelers, even though he played very well, but was benched for Russell Wilson.
The Jets now have Membou at right tackle, and last year's pick in Olu Fashanu at left tackle, who played pretty well and has a ton of potential moving forward, Alijah Vera-Tucker at right guard, and some decent pieces in the middle to compete — guys who can win reps.
With those two at OT, the Jets can really have a top OT duo for maybe the next decade, if all goes well. The Jets got a great guy in Membou, and moving forward, their quarterback, whoever it may be down the road, will be protected on the edge.
Armand Membou, RT, Missouri Scouting Report
Age: 21 (3/27/2004)
A to Z Sports Draft Projection: 15 Overall, 1st Round
Scouting Report: Going into the season, there was a lot of attention paid to Armand Membou out of Missouri, but that soon changed. His film was among the best offensive linemen in the country this past year. A second-team All-SEC player at right tackle, Membou consistently faced top-tier competition and handled things really well. He didn't allow a single sack and just eight pressures in 2024 with only three total sacks and 26 pressures in his career. He can play in any system, but with his athleticism, he would be best in a zone scheme. Overall, Membou is a day one starter at either right tackle or guard with potential to make a Pro Bowl down the line. – Tyler Forness, NFL Draft Analyst
Career Projection: Pro Bowl Potential
Final Word
There isn't a whole lot of bust potential with this pick. Don't get me wrong, this can go bad, but it's very unlikely it does go bad, and for the Jets, they need all the help that they can get on the offensive line. This pick shows me that they are ready to be taken seriously on the offensive side of the ball, and will allow Justin Fields to have the time to throw the ball, along with the run game being much better.
