The New York Jets are taking on the New England Patriots at home in Week 17, and people are ready for the offseason, and rightfully so.

It’s been a nightmare season for Jets fans with not much to look forward to, especially after they traded away both Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams. They did load up on draft picks for this offseason at least, where they can trade for key players, or finally draft their next franchise quarterback.

Their 2026 NFL Draft picks got a major boost because of one free agent they lost this offseason, hitting an incentive bonus in his contract.

New York Jets Comp pick for Morgan Moses gets a boost

Before the Jets kicked off against the Patriots, they received an off-the-field win after learning that offensive tackle Morgan Moses hit a marker of playing 90% of snaps this season, earning him an extra $1.5 million on his contract. Why does that matter for the Jets? Because now his comp pick is projected to be a fifth-round pick instead of a seventh-round pick like it was previously.

The Jets have plenty of ammo for the 2026 NFL Draft now, and a seventh-round pick becoming a fifth-round pick without having to do anything is a big win. They’re projected to have 11 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft to work with, unless they make anymore moves, with four in the first two rounds, and now three more in the fourth and fifth rounds.

The Jets lost Moses in free agency after he signed a three-year deal worth $24 million with the Patriots, and it wasn’t much of a loss after seeing the youth on the offensive line thrive. The team has already invested in the offensive line with high draft capital after taking left tackle Olu Fashanu with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and then taking Armand Membou with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Both look like the future of the offensive line, and now they need to find their franchise quarterback.

Don’t be surprised if the Jets look around the league for a quarterback before even entering the NFL Draft in April, with the supply not meeting the demand with the potential draft prospects available at the position. Whatever they decide, they have the most ammo in the NFL to pull the trigger on any moves made available this offseason.
