The New York Jets have an uphill battle ahead of them after losing their star player in the opening minutes of Monday night's season opener.
Aaron Rodgers went down just 75 seconds into the game after Bills' linebacker Leonard Floyd blew through the Jets' offensive line and sacked the former Super Bowl MVP.
So with this blow to the offense, New York is looking to add talent to the offense and they are starting with the offensive line.
NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reports that the Jets worked out offensive lineman DJ Fluker on Tuesday, with the veteran having flown in just before the workout.
Fluker is attempting a comeback after not playing for the entire 2022 season, with the lineman having dropped 50 pounds since his last stint in the NFL.
The former 2013 Los Angeles (formerly San Diego) Chargers first-round pick had a strong showing in his rookie season, starting in 15 games and being named to the All-Rookie team.
He remained with the Chargers for four seasons, but joined the New York Giants on a one year, $3 million contract for the 2017 season. While he appeared in nine games, the lineman was injured and placed on injured reserve to finish the season.
The Giants opted to not re-sign Fluker, and he signed with the Seattle Seahawks for the 2018 season. Following his first season with the Seahawks, he signed a two-year, $9 million contract extension, but was released in April 2020.
Since 2020, Fluker has been a member of four different teams, starting with the Baltimore Ravens. He bounced around from the Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders, and Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021, but has not been signed by a team since.
Fluker has also worked out with the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots this past offseason.
And along with this workout, the Jets are also looking to add a veteran quarterback to the roster with Rodgers officially out for the season due to a torn Achilles.
We'll see if Fluker is one of a few additions expected throughout the next few days.
