The spotlight will shine on the New York Jets very soon.

Cameras will be following the team for the 18th season of HBO's popular series, Hard Knocks, and the premiere date is set.

Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the New York Jets premieres on August 8 at 10 p.m. EST.

Head coach Robert Saleh made his opinion on the possibility clear in June.

“I know there are several teams that would love for ‘Hard Knocks’ to be in their building. We’re just not one of them,” Saleh said.

However, they were selected and star quarterback Aaron Rodgers understands why that is.

“One of the only things I like about ‘Hard Knocks’ is the voice of God, who narrates it, Liev (Schreiber). I hope I get to meet him,” Rodgers said. “Look, I understand the appeal with us. Obviously, there’s a lot of eyes on me, a lot of eyes on our team, a lot of expectations for our squad. They forced it down our throats and we have to deal with it.”

The NFL selects a team based on ones that don't meet on of their three guidelines.

The guidelines exclude teams with a first-year head coach, those that have earned a playoff berth in the past two seasons, and teams that have appeared on Hard Knocks within the last 10 years.

Saleh is entering his third season as head coach of the Jets, and New York has not earned a spot in the playoffs since 2010, which is also the last time they were featured on Hard Knocks.

This made then the perfect candidate for the show.

Fans won't have to wait much longer to get a up close view of the team.
