The Jets’ nightmare season continues with news Aaron Glenn refused to share on star player
We should’ve expected this news after Aaron Glenn’s rant earlier this week.
The New York Jets fanbase can’t catch a break this season after a 2-7 start, and both Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams were traded before the deadline.
There are still plenty of games left to be played, though, even if fans are checked out and thinking about a rebuild this offseason with all of the draft picks the Jets have. Even after trading away Gardner and Williams, the Jets have a handful of younger players to be excited about, but they will be without one for a while.
After injuring his knee last Sunday, the Jets have placed wide receiver Garrett Wilson on IR, which no one saw coming after Aaron Glenn refused to acknowledge it.
Jets’ passing game could be without Garrett Wilson for the rest of the season
The Jets are dead last in the league in passing yards per game with a 143-yard average, and now their best receiver is out for a while, if not the rest of the season. Wilson injured his knee Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, and now he’s headed to the IR.
The move to IR makes Wilson miss four games, which includes the matchup against the New England Patriots, and the next three after, which means he could return. The earliest he could come back to playing is in Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but that leaves just four games to play before the season ends, and the record might show that it’s not worth the risk in a nonexistent passing offense. The news wasn’t a surprise, though, after many saw how Glenn approached the injury update to Wilson.
Aaron Glenn refused to admit what was coming for Garrett Wilson
Glenn started the Jets’ press conference on Tuesday by saying that he wasn’t going to talk about injuries, which led to a very memorable moment that made its way through the media.
“I’m going to, um, pass on talking about injuries since Rich [Cimini], oh, he’s not here, has all the answers. So you guys can get all the injuries from Rich.”
This led to a rant from Glenn, saying he refuses to talk about injuries since Rich Cimini with ESPN knows them all, and eventually said that things were being reported that he never said. Well, two days later, Wilson heads to the IR and will miss at least four weeks, just like Cimini reported he would. It was a bad look from a frustrated Glenn, and of course, losing your best player sucks, but this could’ve been announced on Tuesday with no problem.
The good news, however, is that newly acquired wide receiver AD Mitchell, who was part of the Gardner trade, will be playing, and the team will get a good look at what he brings to the offense.
