The New York Jets will be without one of their veteran receivers as they take on the Miami Dolphins in a divisional matchup on Black Friday.
SNYtv's Connor Hughes reports that Allen Lazard will be inactive for Friday's game.
This comes after the veteran receiver dropped his seventh pass of the season in the Jets loss to the Buffalo Bills. After signing a $44 million contract this offseason, Lazard has a total of 20 catches for 290 yards and one touchdown so far this season.
Lazard followed Aaron Rodgers to the Jets after spending the beginning of his career with the Green Bay Packers. In his final season, he finished with 60 receptions for 788 yards and six receiving touchdowns across 15 games.
Along with Lazard being sidelined, head coach Robert Saleh has opted to bench quarterback Zach Wilson, with Tim Boyle earning the start. Trevor Siemian was promoted from the practice squad and is set to serve as the backup, while Wilson will now be the third-string quarterback.
However, Boyle will have to navigate the offense without Lazard.
One thing is for sure: this is going to be an interesting game to watch.
