The New York Jets are headed back across the pond.
The team announced today that the Jets will play a home game in London during the 2025 season. Their opponents will be revealed, along with dates and kickoff times, when the full 2025 schedule is released this spring.
New York is one of three teams that announced they will be headed back to London in 2025 with the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars being the other two. The Jets and Browns will play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Jaguars will return to their home away from home at Wembley Stadium.
The Jets have had mixed results playing in London. They are 1-2 in England all time with a loss to the Atlanta Falcons in 2021 by a final of 27-20 and a loss this past season to the Minnesota Vikings 23-17, in a game that would ultimately get Robert Saleh fired and begin the dumpster fire that was the Jets 2024 season.
Back in 2015, the Jets did get victory in London, defeating the Miami Dolphins by a final of 27-14.
With the Jets being the home team this time, their opponent for the game will be one of; New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos or the Dallas Cowboys, all of which are slated to face the Jets next season.
The Jets and the Jaguars hold marketing rights in the U.K. as part of the league’s Global Markets Program, which awards NFL teams international regions to build brand awareness and fandom beyond the United States. Jets owner Woody Johnson served as ambassador in the UK during President Donald Trump’s first term in office, but is not returning for his second stint.
Beginning in 2025, the NFL can schedule up to eight league-operated regular-season games internationally. The league also will play regular-season games in Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and in Berlin at Olympic Stadium.
Fifty-five regular-season games have been played around the world in league history, with London hosting 39 of those.
“This season will see us surpass 40 regular-season games in the capital, a testament to the role the U.K. has played in growing the game globally,” NFL U.K. & Ireland general manager Henry Hodgson said in a statement. “The London games are a continued catalyst for year-round fan engagement, and we are focused on serving our 15 million fans, reaching new communities and driving growth in flag football participation, which now sees over 100,000 young people play the game.”
The Jets will head to London with a new GM, head coach, and likely, a new QB in 2025 as this looks to be an offseason with a lot of change for the team.
Jets get the worst news for their offseason before they were done playing their last game
For fans of the New York Jets, this time of year is always bittersweet. Another failed year despite lofty expectations. One last Sunday where you have to watch your team flounder and wonder if it is okay to want to watch them win, even know your brain tells you it is better at this point […]
