The NFL has fined defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw $15,944 for unsportsmanlike conduct during the New York Jets' Week 6 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Kinlaw had an extremely rough drive late in the fourth quarter, committing three penalties. The first was roughing the passer on quarterback Josh Allen, setting the Bills up with first-and-goal. A few plays later on fourth-and-goal, Kinlaw was called for a neutral zone infraction on a made field goal attempt by Buffalo.

That led him to mouth off to the referee, which got him flagged -and now fined – for verbal abuse of an official. The penalty was assessed on the subsequent kickoff. NFL insider Tom Pelissero posted the video of the incident to X.

The league has cracked down in recent years on treatment and criticism towards referees. Football is obviously an emotional game and sometimes players feel that they have to get things off their chests. Unfortunately, they're likely to get hit in the pocketbook if they make that decision.

Like many roughing the passer calls, Kinlaw's was debatable. However, the neutral zone infraction was not, and Kinlaw has to keep his cool. At the end of the day, he was likely more mad at himself than the official and simply let his feelings get the best of him. It was an ugly game for both teams as they combined for a whopping 22 penalties for 204 yards.

After spending the first four years of his career with the San Francisco 49ers, Kinlaw signed a one-year contract with the Jets during the offseason. He's off to a solid start in 2024 with 14 tackles, one sack and five quarterback pressures. For his career, Kinlaw has 84 tackles, six sacks, 28 QB hurries and one interception.

The 2-4 Jets will travel to Pittsburgh in Week 7 to play the Steelers on Sunday Night Football.

Mike Williams of the Jets made this catch in the first half as the Denver Broncos edged the New York Jets 10-9 at MetLife Stadium.

Jets shouldn’t be in any rush to trade struggling star

I’m not sure if you have heard yet, but the New York Jets acquired Davante Adams this week in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. It was kind of a big deal. After the Jets’ disastrous loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night, Aaron Rodgers woke up Tuesday morning with a new receiver […]
