The New York Jets just received a slight boost for their scheduled game against the reigning champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
The matchup won't take place until Week 4 but the latest news around the NFL. will directly benefit the Jets, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers when the time comes. Why?
The league is suspending Chiefs DL Charles Omenihu for the first six games of the season. That means Omenihu, who had 4.5 sacks and 16 QB hits last year with a 54% snap count, won't be around to give chase to Rodgers.
According to the report by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the suspension is a result of Omenihu's violation of the league's personal conduct policy. He was arrested after allegedly pushing his girlfriend down following an argument.
Omenihu signed with the Chiefs in March after a successful stint with the San Francisco 49ers. Before the suspension, he was projected to start opposite George Karlaftis.
Surely, a blow like this will make life a tiny bit easier on the Jets' questionable offensive line. But after all, it's Patrick Mahomes' powerful attack that should most concern Robert Saleh's team.
Expect it to be one of the games of the year.
