Jets players expose the worst-kept secret that's been haunting the franchise for decades and it's honestly refreshing

It is the worst kept secret in sports and now the secret is officially out for the world to see. It is something I have been saying for years on any platform that I have, from A to Z Sports to my weekly podcast. It is something I tell anyone who starts a random conversation with me about the Jets. It is something that even the slightly-educated Jets fans know.
Woody Johnson is the worst owner in the NFL.
At least now you don’t just have to take my word for it, as Jets players themselves brought the "secret" to light in the NFLPA's most recent team report card.
The NFLPA released its annual report card on Wednesday and it's where the players grade organizations on everything from treatment of families, to facilities, to dietitians, to ownership. The Jets organization finished 29th out of 32 teams with the two major issues being Woody Johnson and the food. The Jets dropped from 21st last year to 29th this season.
Unsurprisingly, when asked what needs the most improvement, players overwhelmingly point to the food program, although they are complimentary of their new dietitian. They also cite perceived top leadership issues, with some describing issues as “top-down problems.” The Jets' ownership grade dropped from a B- to an F, with Woody Johnson receiving the league’s lowest owner score for contributing to a positive team culture.
Johnson was given an F, the only owner in the NFL to be graded that low. Johnson received a B- last year. Last month at the press conference to introduce new coach Aaron Glenn and new general manager Darren Mougey, Johnson said: “I have to be a better owner.”
The players feel that Johnson does not contribute to a positive team culture and feel that he is somewhat committed to building a competitive team.
“Rather than addressing concerns, players believed that management responded to feedback by making conditions worse,” the report reads. “For example, after receiving low grades for their food program last year, players felt the team cut the food budget and did not retain their longtime dietician, who was previously their highest-rated staff member.”
Johnson was bad in every way imaginable during the last season, and the fans, the media, and the players all took note. Johnson dodged the media at the end of the season in a cowardly move instead of answering questions on his poor decisions. Decisions including firing Robert Saleh five games into the season, inserting himself into football decisions, and undermining his general manager. He even allowed his teenage son to make roster decisions based solely on Madden video game ratings.
Johnson is the worst type of owner in sports, because his power is unchecked, and his stupidity and involvement are boundless. It is my belief that the Jets will never know sustained success with Woody Johnson at the helm. He is the worst owner in a market that also includes James Dolan.
It's honestly refreshing, though. Hopefully getting called out by his own team will actually get Johnson to follow through with his "desire" to be a better owner. That might be wishful thinking, but hey, even the oldest of dogs can learn new tricks from time to time.
The Jets have not made the playoffs in 14 seasons. You can blame a bad year on a quarterback. You can blame two or three bad years on a coach. You can blame five years on a bad GM. At 14 seasons, there is only one person to blame. And the NFLPA just told you who it was.
Latest report says the Jets quarterback problem may have already been solved
The Jets quarterback problem may have already been solved. According to a report from Josina Anderson, there are people within the New York Jets organization who support Tyrod Taylor as the team’s starting quarterback for 2025. One thing I have gathered in my various conversations is that Tyrod Taylor has multiple supporters in the building. […]
