The New York Jets quarterback situation has not been successful.
After Aaron Rodgers went down 75 seconds into his debut with the Jets, the team was forced to turn back to Zach Wilson. And despite defending him through all the ups and downs, head coach Robert Saleh decided to bench him.
They first turned to Tim Boyle, but he was benched halfway through their Week 13 game against the Atlanta Falcons, and they went to Trevor Siemian. Now they want to go back to the original plan.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini reports that the team wanted Wilson to take over as the starter once again, but "he is reluctant to stepping back in."
She added that the team is hoping Wilson will change his mind, since discussions are still being had regarding who will start.
Jeff Howe also reported that if the Jets directly asked Wilson to start, it seems he would agree to that.
While there have also been some reports that Rodgers might try to make a miraculous return, the Jets unlikelihood to make the playoffs could put a stop to that.
In Boyle's two starts, he threw for 327 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Over the short period Siemian played, he completed 5 of 13 passes for 66 yards while losing one fumble.
The offensive struggles have been evident for the Jets, but changing to another quarterback has not proved any better for the team.
We'll have to see what Wilson decides to do.
