The Chicago Bears went through a tough rebuilding year in 2022.

Chicago finished 3-14 and earned the No. 1 selection in the 2023 NFL Draft (which was subsequently traded to the Carolina Panthers).

Despite the tough 2022 season, there's optimism in 2023 that the Bears can return to the playoffs for the first time since 2020.

But for that to happen, quarterback Justin Fields, who is entering his third season in the NFL, will have to take a big leap forward in his development.

Fields show flashes of being elite in 2022, but he still has a long way to go before he joins the top tier of quarterbacks.

NFL media personality Colleen Wolfe, who is co-hosting NFL Network's Good Morning Football this week, doesn't think Fields will have any issues in 2023 making that big jump.

"So let me talk about this because last year we saw Justin Fields struggle in the passing game because look at what he was working with at the pass catcher position, he really didn't get any help whatsoever," said Wolfe. "He was tremendous when he took off and was able to run and use his legs. But now, this team brought in DJ Moore who's coming off a career year — had seven touchdowns with the Panthers and look at the quarterback that he was playing with there (in Carolina)."

"This team has a slew of draft capital that they can use to help protect Justin Fields," added Wolfe. "He was sacked 55 times last year. I mean, part of the problem is because he didn't have anyone to throw to. So it all kind of works together here. And I think that when you look at that division, it is obviously changing. It is in flux. This is a situation where you bring in some help for Justin Fields and he can bring you some really huge changes in Chicago."

The Bears are certainly hoping that Wolfe is correct. If she is, then fans in Chicago might see the Bears make a similar leap as what we saw from the Cincinnati Bengals two years ago with Joe Burrow.
