The New York Giants have been aggressive in adding offensive talent this offseason. That being said, it isn't often that an All-Pro receiver gets released at this point in the offseason. That's the case for DeAndre Hopkins, though.
The Arizona Cardinals cut ties with the veteran earlier today, so any team can now sign him to a new deal. Do the Giants make sense for the former All-Pro wideout? ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler believes so right now.
New York has many supporting players at wide receiver but no alpha. Is it time to give Daniel Jones an elite guy once and for all? Perhaps Darren Waller assumes that role, but he's a tight end. The NFC East is only getting better, and the Giants might need to win some shootouts. The problem is that the Giants have $4.5 million in cap space and still need to extend Saquon Barkley. — Fowler
They don't have the most cap space as of right now, but they could maneuver it in order to make a deal happen with Hopkins. That is, of course, if Hopkins also holds legit interest in joining New York.
The Giants will have plenty of competition for one of the best receivers in the NFL when healthy. Let's see how aggressive they are towards him.
