Despite winning three straight AFC East division titles, there's been some speculation that Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott's job could be in jeopardy this offseason.

Buffalo is two games behind the Miami Dolphins in the AFC East and they're currently battling for the final playoff spot.

The Bills, however, are coming off a big road win against the Kansas City Chiefs. And they nearly knocked off the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago (Buffalo's defense, however, couldn't get the job done).

For now, the win against the Chiefs has cooled the talk around McDermott's seat according to ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano, though he doesn't think the Buffalo head coach is "out of the woods" just yet.

"Sunday was also a big win for the Bills, especially after the week that Sean McDermott had," wrote Graziano on Wednesday. "I think McDermott is likely safe as well, but I don't think he's out of the woods yet, and Buffalo's schedule still has a couple of tough games left."

The win against the Chiefs combined with Bills general manager Brandon Beane's comments about McDermott during the post-game celebration seem to indicate that a coaching change isn't even on the radar right now in Buffalo.

Beane and McDermott have a relationship that goes back over a decade to their time together with the Carolina Panthers. Because of that relationship, it seems unlikely that Beane would move on from McDermott because of a down season after three straight division titles.

But at the same time, if the Bills miss the playoffs in a year where quarterback play in the AFC has been down (and there have been numerous season-ending injuries to star players like Joe Burrow and Aaron Rodgers), then it will be viewed as a massive missed opportunity in the prime of quarterback Josh Allen's career. I don't know if that will be enough to inspire a change, but the noise will certainly get even louder in Buffalo this offseason if they fail to make the playoffs.

The Bills host the Dallas Cowboys next week before finishing the season with games against the Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots, and Miami Dolphins.
