The hockey world just taught everybody else a lesson. How do you get people to care about an All-Star style of game during a regular season? The 4 Nations Face-Off was the perfect example of that.

Canada wins the 4 Nations Face-Off

On Thursday evening, the tournament came to a conclusion with a fantastic second matchup in a week between the United States and Canada.

After the U.S. grabbed a victory the first time, the Canadian team won the Championship game in the inaugural event. Connor McDavid, arguably the best hockey player in the world over the past decade, scored a goal to win it in overtime for Canada.

The game brought together the best players in the sport and made the teams resonate with entire countries. Sweden and Finland were the other two countries represented in the NHL's unique take on an All-Star break.

At least one NFL superstar was tuned in, and he offered up some advice for the next 4 Nations Face-Off. Many fans will probably agree with him, too.

Christian McCaffrey reacts to Championship game

Christian McCaffrey posed the idea of a best of three format to decide a champion for the event next time. The two games between the U.S. and Canada were nail biters, and it was clear they both deserved to be in the final.

We will see if any adjustments come in coming years from the NHL and everyone involved. As for hockey on an international spotlight level, they'll get a ton of attention in 2026 during the Winter Olympics in Milan as well.

A lot of athletes were active on social media during the Championship game, and it was clear that the amount of eyeballs watching was pretty abnormal, compared to other All-Star-type events in other pro sports.

Overall, the storylines, hype, and impressive viewership all rounded out the idea that this was a great event for the sport and its fans.
