Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are on track to win the franchise's fourth Super Bowl with Mahomes at quarterback, including an unprecedented three Lombardis in a row if they beat the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9.

Personally, for Mahomes, he has more than that on the line heading into the game. Although he'd undoubtedly rank another ring as the priority before anything else.

“It’s a long process. It takes everybody. It takes every single person on the team, and you saw that tonight," Mahomes said after beating the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game. "If it was special teams, if it was offense, if it was defense, everybody had their role in this game and that was a great football team that we played. For us to go through the season and win the games the way that we won them, I’m proud of the team, but like you said, we’re not to the ultimate goal yet and this will be a great challenge for us with Philadelphia. I’m excited for the guys preparing and get to New Orleans and put up our best shot. . .

". . . It’s just so hard to get to the Super Bowl and I don’t take it for granted. To be able to do it again at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium was special. I mean, last year was awesome. You get there and you win it but you’re at a different stadium. Then, being able to win it at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium and then you get that trophy on that stage, and you look around and there’s not a seat empty. It is a special place and I’m glad that I get to be a part of Chiefs Kingdom and here in Kansas City because these (are) moments that I’ll have for the rest of my life.”

Still, Mahomes will earn an extra $1.25 million via contract incentive if the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIX. It'd be the perfect cherry-on-top to the situation and again, while it's not at the top of the list, you know he's fully aware of the details. That's a solid chunk of change for winning the big game, even for a guy whose contract averages $45 million per year and pays out $450 million. It's actually a yearly incentive, so every time the Chiefs make the Super Bowl, Mahomes has a shot at earning that much cash after a win, as long as he also plays 50% of regular season snaps or 50% of Super Bowl snaps, which is most likely going to be the case every single time.

The last thing Mahomes needs is extra motivation and he has just that, which obviously isn't ideal for the Eagles' final outlook.
