The New England Patriots have another assistant coach returning to Foxborough for the 2024 season.
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, cornerbacks coach Mike Pellegrino is set to return to the team and will serve in his same role.
This will be his 10th season with the Patriots.
He has spent his entire coaching career in New England, first joining the Patriots in 2015 as a coaching assistant. In 2019, he was promoted to cornerbacks coach and has remained in that position.
And not to mention, he's won two Super Bowls with the team. So it's safe to say that Pellegrino knows about the Patriots winning ways and wants to help them get back there.
This has been a tough season for the cornerback room, with numerous injuries leaving players out for games. And Pellegrino has handled it all very well, with some rookies getting key opportunities.
An example of that is his ability to help rookie Alex Austin develop in such a short amount of time.
He is the second coach to return to the team this week, with Brian Belichick also coming back to coach safeties.
Having already worked with Jerod Mayo on defense last season, it makes sense why he would want to bring them back. And the defense has been solid, so clearly the coaches are doing something right.
With Pellegrino and Belichick returning, let's see if anyone else comes back. And also let's see who else they bring in.
