The New England Patriots have finally had the start that everyone has been waiting for.
The Pittsburgh Steelers won the toss and elected to defer, sending Bailey Zappe and the Patriots' offense onto the field first. And for once, they didn't disappoint.
The 75-yard drive was finished with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Ezekiel Elliott. And just like that, the Patriots not only got into the end zone, but also finally got some point on the board after being shut out by the Los Angeles Chargers last week.
And while Elliott was a large part of the drive, JuJu Smith-Schuster highlighted the opening minutes of the game.
Smith-Schuster caught a 37-yard bomb from Zappe, despite the tight coverage from Steelers defenders.
It was the play that fans had been waiting to see from him all season after the Patriots gave the receiver a 3 yard, $33 million contract this past offseason.
And Elliott's touchdown was the first opening-drive touchdown of the season for New England. It was quite the play for Zappe to record his first of the season as well.
Let's see if they can keep it up.
