Robert Kraft has a very difficult decision to make. And it just got a lot harder.
With the news of Mike Vrabel being fired as head coach of the Tennessee Titans, a reunion in New England is possible. But that would only happen if Kraft decides to move on from Belichick. And that decision clearly hasn't been made.
But if this does happen, there could be a very ironic outcome.
Vrabel is expected to be at the top of Kraft's list if a breakup between him and Belichick does occur. And there were reports that came out prior to the firing announcement that Vrabel would be interested in that possibility.
With Belichick, if he is out in New England, the expectation is he will head elsewhere to continue coaching. Especially considering how close he is to beating Don Shula's record.
Atlanta is expected to heavily pursue Belichick, but with an opening in the Titans, that's one to look out for .
So why wouldn't the two organizations consider a trade?
Well for starters, it has been said early when the Belichick rumors began that the Patriots probably wouldn't be open to trading him.
And on the Titans side, Dianna Russini provided some more context on that.
The Titans believed trading Vrabel was too complicated and would take too long, per sources. They wanted to move on quickly. I was told Vrabel never asked ownership for a trade or asked out of Tennessee," Russini wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
But if Vrabel ends up in New England and Belichick ends up Tennessee, it's going to be quite the story. Especially with the two teams playing each other next season.
