Ten teams voted against the Tush Push ban, but only one of them will face the Philadelphia Eagles in 2025: the Detroit Lions.
That comes as no surprise, especially given head coach Dan Campbell’s outspoken support for keeping the play alive during the NFL league meetings in April.
“I am of the school that they found something and it’s up to everybody else to stop it. So I’m a hard yes,” Campbell told reporters.
Campbell isn't naive to the fact that any team can attempt the Eagles’ unique take on the quarterback sneak, but Philadelphia simply executes it far better than the rest of the league.
In recent seasons, the Eagles have converted the Tush Push at an impressive rate of about 86%, well above the league average of 76%.
The Eagles have put in the extra effort to master the play, a point Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has emphasized repeatedly.
"I can't tell you how many times we've practiced the snap, we've practiced the play — it's not a play that's easy to practice, so there's different ways we've figured out how to practice it — the complements that come off of it that can create explosive plays," Sirianni said at the NFL Combine. "The fact that it's [portrayed] as an automatic thing, we work really hard, and our guys are talented at this play, and so it's a little insulting to say we're good at it so it's automatic. We work really hard at it."
