They also stacked on three more draft picks for their next year's draft after making a historic eight trades. It was an overall solid draft by general manager Howie Roseman and the gang.
Now, it's time to overreact to what could be one of their best draft classes in franchise history.
Eagles' Secondary Went from Worst to Best Overnight
Are you kidding me? The Eagles, who were expected to trade up in the first round to get the cornerback that they wanted, didn't have to.
Toledo's Quinyon Mitchell fell right into the palm of their hands at No. 22 when was widely projected to go off the boards before pick 15.
Mitchell brings elite 4.3 speed and ball-hawking skills to Philly. He has been modeling his game after Darius Slay and now he gets to learn the ropes from him.
It's worth noting that the best college coach to ever coach the game at the collegiate level, Nick Saban, even admitted to tampering in the transfer portal to get Mitchell to come play at Alabama. Mitchell stayed true to Toledo.
And then the Eagles landed Swiss army knife Cooper DeJean from Iowa in Round 2. They traded up to get him, but they didn't have to give up much for the first-round talent cornerback.
DeJean can play anywhere from outside, nickel, safety, and even has the tools to develop into a linebacker if the Eagles want him to.
Vic Fangio is going to have a field day with these two. Yep, the Eagles' secondary just got better and possibly too good overnight.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. Will Be Just Like His Dad
His dad, Jeremiah Trotter Sr., who was drafted by the Eagles in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft became a Philly legend. Through four seasons with the Birds, Trotter Sr. earned four Pro Bowl nods, was a first-team All-Pro selection, and was an Eagles Hall of Fame inductee.
Trotter Jr. plans to wear the same number 54 that his dad wore and follow in his footsteps.
He flashed signs of his dad during his time at Clemson, especially just last season where he led the Tigers in tackles (88) and tackles for loss (15.0), and 5.5 sacks.
His impressive physicality and football IQ should translate very well to the next level and his dad will be right there to guide him.
Howie Roseman Just Saved Nick Sirianni's Job
After dropping a 10-1 start to the season in 2023, it's believed that head coach Nick Sirianni enters 2024 on the hot seat.
But general manager Howie Roseman just saved Sirianni's job by juicing up the Eagles' defense and filling in necessary depth with elite talent from this year's draft. Not to mention that all of this comes after a very successful NFL free agency and several contract extension agreements with their biggest stars.
Sirianni now has everything he needs to make a Super Bowl run in 2024.
