The offseason around the NFL is always hectic. For the Philadelphia Eagles, fans are begging for a new offensive coordinator to be hired as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, an NFL insider and key reporter in the industry just revealed an Eagles tidbit that made everyone do a double take when it comes to their offseason plans.

Adam Schefter teases looming news for Eagles outside of offensive coordinator hire

In a radio appearance on Wednesday morning, the NFL insider didn’t shy away from stirring the pot for Eagles fans. Schefter indicated that the Eagles may have some major news coming down the pipeline, outside of just their impending hire at offensive coordinator.

“Maybe there will be more than discussion of an offensive coordinator, we’ll see. We’ll see what happens here in the next week.” — Adam Schefter on 97.5 The Fanatic

Possible storylines from Schefter’s hint

What could this possibly be? Well, there’s a handful of avenues that people are discussing currently. Some of them make sense, while others feel rather far-fetched when you look at them under a microscope.

These are some possible news angles he could be referring to happening soon for Philly. None of these have been reported or specifically hinted at by Schefter or any other reputable source, but rather, they’re simply potential offseason-altering headlines for the Eagles at this point of the process.

Vic Fangio’s retirement: This one would be horribly unfortunate for every party involved. Fangio may have had a change of heart since the end of the campaign – or another personal situation may have made him rethink staying in coaching. With assistant Brandon Parker already out the door to the Dallas Cowboys, the Eagles would’ve already lost their top potential candidate to replace him from within.

Firing Nick Sirianni: Spicy one! Philly would be joining the coaching carousel incredibly late in the process, after having the head coach involved in their current OC search. Just cannot see that being their masterplan from Howie Roseman. This would have made more sense if it was teased a couple weeks back.

A.J. Brown requests trade: Brown and the Eagles were not on great footing this season on multiple occasions. Moving Brown early in the offseason is financially nearly impossible for Philadelphia, though. The timing of this would not really add up to me.

Jeff Stoutland moves on: The elite OL coach for the Eagles may choose to head to retirement or move on in another way. He’s reportedly played a role in some timidness from OC candidates because the current staff would like him to retain his control/role going forward.

The Eagles may have a huge move on the horizon, or this could simply be a tease that never materializes from the insider. Only time will tell.
