A.J. Brown’s tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles has been a bit of a rollercoaster. At times, Brown and the team have reached the pinnacles of success in the NFL. Other times, frustration has boiled over, and tensions have run high around the Eagles’ offense.

Regardless, this offseason will be filled with trade talk surrounding the former Pro Bowl wide receiver. Ahead of Super Bowl LX, Derrick Henry is already making whispers about the Eagles trading Brown even louder.

Derrick Henry wants A.J. Brown to join him on Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens’ star running back mentioned specifically that Lamar Jackson would like to play with a player who has Brown’s mentality. The former Pro Bowl running back said the Ravens would love to have Brown on their team, in a media spot with Kay Adams, this week.

“A.J.’s a dog. I played with A.J. in Tennessee with Vrabes [Mike Vrabel]… Come on over!… Let’s go get this ring. You got one in Philly. ” — Henry via the Up and Adams Show

Henry playfully pleaded directly to Brown that he needs to come to Baltimore this offseason during the interview. He clearly appreciates Brown’s talent and value as a teammate.

Eagles would most likely have to wait to trade A.J. Brown

While this idea sounds great on paper for Baltimore, it would be a bit tough for the Eagles and Ravens to pull off anytime soon. That’s because of how Brown’s contract is structured.

The WR’s cap hit for 2026 is at $23.4 million, and if the Eagles trade him before June 1, they’d take on the fourth-largest single-season dead cap hit in league history at $43.5 million. Philly’s cap savings from the deal would be nonexistent, too. In reality, it would be a negative $20 million move.

If the Eagles wait to move Brown until after June 1, the trade would make more financial sense. That being said, that would be after the 2026 NFL Draft, so the Eagles would have to wait a near calendar year for their return to even join the team in all likelihood. That’s a tough pill to swallow for a talent like Brown to exit.

Trading Brown post-June 1 would free up $7 million, per Over the CapBrown would only add $16.3 million in dead money to the Eagles’ cap in that scenario.

No matter what, there are hurdles to jump through for the Eagles to ship off one of their most dynamic playmakers. That’s not stopping his former star Titans teammate from considering playing with him in the AFC again, though.
