The Philadelphia Eagles front office, led by general manager Howie Roseman, are one of the most intriguing groups in football. They’re active nearly every offseason along the trade market around the NFL, and that may be the case again this year.

Wide receiver A.J. Brown’s name has been a consistent topic of discussion, and he was brought up to both Roseman and Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni during media availability at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Eagles have a very steep price on A.J. Brown via trade market

The WR’s cap hit for 2026 is at $23.4 million, and if the Eagles trade him before June 1, they’d take on the fourth-largest single-season dead cap hit in league history at $43.5 million. Philly’s cap savings from the deal would be nonexistent, too.

In reality, it would be a negative $20 million move. Neither the Eagles GM nor HC closed the door on a Brown trade this offseason, but both also echoed the talent that he adds to the offensive unit in Philly.

In a recent intel piece from Rob Gregson, it sounds evident that Philadelphia don’t want to move Brown just for the sake of doing so. Trading him away would need to be clearly worth it in terms of compensation, especially if it is for 2026 compensation.

“Teams have inquired about Brown’s availability, but the Eagles are striking a hard bargain. Teams have been more inclined to part with 2027 draft capital, but Howie Roseman and the Eagles haven’t been willing to bite as of yet. A good businessman like Roseman knows that the present value of a dollar is higher than that of a dollar in the future, so the Eagles have been asking for 2026 picks and high ones. It seems like it will take a great deal for Philly to part with Brown.” – Rob Gregson, A to Z Sports

With this information in mind, Eagles fans may have a bit of relief for now. Philly isn’t in a rush to move off their most talented pass catcher, and keep in mind that tight end Dallas Goedert is set to hit free agency.

Losing both Goedert and Brown for a low return on the latter this offseason could be somewhat debilitating for a passing game going through a transition to a new scheme under OC Sean Mannion. The Eagles don’t plan on seeing that occur.
