Bill Belichick is thriving in his media personality role, but that doesn't mean he won't ever coach again.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier this month that Belichick was eyeing a coaching return next season, though he plans to be "choosy" about which team and opportunity he ultimately explores.
Well, following his latest comments on the Philadelphia Eagles, he may be after Nick Sirianni's head coaching job.
When asked by Tom Brady on the "Let's Go!" Podcast what organizations he respects in terms of their management, Belichick said the Eagles.
"You look at a team like Philadelphia … they’ve also put together a pretty good roster. They continue to make great moves, like signing Bryce Huff and trading away [Haason] Reddick, giving that problem to somebody else,” Belichick said.
The Eagles did dodge a bullet with Reddick, who has forfeited two games as he continues to hold out for a new contract. However, it's to be determined if the Huff signing has worked out in their favor just yet.
Regardless of those two moves, Belichick giving Howie Roseman and the Eagles a glowing review speaks volumes.
Belichick did communicate with the Eagles and Roseman during the coaching search, but Philly ultimately decided he wasn't a good fit because they didn't want to give him too much control.
If Sirianni doesn't get the Eagles back on the right track after a disastrous 2023 season, the Eagles could be on the search for another new head coach. So far, he's not off to a great start.
Depending how the rest of the season unravels, then maybe the Eagles would reconsider Belichick. At least we know that with a comment like that, the six-time Super Bowl champion head would consider joining the Eagles.
